Welcome.
I've been "a writer" since 1995 when, somewhat to my surprise,
I sold something I'd written to the long-extinct Helicon magazine, who paid me, actually paid me, for a poem. The poem was pretty rudimentary. What it really was, was a start.
Since then I've had poems, short stories and novelettes published in a wide variety of magazines and anthologies.
Some of the things I've written are "science fiction". Some of them are "fantasy". Some of them are "literary fiction". And some - the best - really haven't made their minds up what they are.
For your delight and entertainment, a selection of my work can be found over in the Archive. There's a full list of everything I've had published in the Bibliography.
As of October, 2009, the tally of publications stands at 4 novelettes, 26 short stories, 27 poems and 1 work of flash fiction.
I'm also a staff writer on the Daily Writing Tips blog.
You may be interested in Hedge Witch, my first novel, as yet unpublished. It's the first volume in the modern fantasy Anead trilogy. Here's what readers have said about it :
"It's very exciting - I'd like to take the rest of this to bed tonight!"
"A very believable world full of danger, adventure and magic."
"A different spin on the usual fantasy world and a good deal more literate than most."
"I'm positively spellbound ... wonderful work, written with such beautiful, visual clarity."
"The wonderful prose makes me think of Phillip Pullman."
"I absolutely love it! You've created such a wonderfully descriptive place that sounds beautiful yet the horrors still come across perfectly."

Meanwhile, my blog, Spellmaking, contains updates on my writing, as well as writing advice, thoughts on books and also updates on Subtract, the replacement for my Writer's Database submission tracking software. Do please drop by and take a look.
